Techniques practiced in Hatsumi’s school of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu are derived from thousands of waza and skills passed down through the centuries. Most formal training taught by Hatsumi is described as having roots in 9 schools based on Japanese warrior skills and code from the Samurai and Ninja. Bujinkan training is sometimes also called Ninpo, Ninjutsu, Shinobi, Taijutsu and other names of martial arts that have common ancestry with numerous ninja, samurai, and related ancient martial arts knowledge. The thousands of waza and henka shared in Hatsumi’s Bujinkan are even are sometimes descended from all continents and historical epochs, which is the case with all martial arts. Since pre-historic days, if a technique worked, the warrior survived to tell about it. Masters perfected them in schools that faced a variety of threats. Over the ages, martial art widsom has flowed to modern day scenarios in their specialized forms. Once secret, a significant amount of authentic Japanese Ninja and Samurai martial art techniques are now open to every martial artist who seeks it.

“I frequently taught Takamatsu Sensei’s proverb: “You yourself must become Ku” — vanishing taijutsu, taijutsu that cannot be seen, taijutsu that becomes transparent. I was first taught this in the following way: “Taijutsu is that which sinks into the erogenous zones and disappears…” and many of the students at the time stood with grinning faces. I believe this is the memory that I have, and then I disappeared while showing that taijutsu.”
